Learning disability week 2025

Organised by Mencap and other contributors, the theme for 2025 is ‘Do you see me?’. This is to raise awareness of Learning disabilities and their daily struggles to be seen in society. Learning disabilities are not a reflection of intelligence, they need more support to overcome barriers in learning and everyday life.

Adults with learning disabilities are often unable to work as they would like an estimated 86% want to work, however only 26.7% are employed. Due to this and a number of additional factors, many people with learning disabilities feel socially isolated and they have higher chance of mental health problems. This Learning disability week we celebrate the strengths, talents, and contributions of people with learning disabilities.

“Do You See Me?”

Seen – acknowledged for the person they are, not any diagnosis

Heard – their voices truly heard and listened to

Included – participate in education, workplaces, and communities

Valued – respected for their unique contributions
