Happy father’s day to all (dads, stepdads, mums, the list goes on)
Father’s Day isn’t just a date on the calendar. It’s a chance for us to celebrate the men who’ve stepped up and supported us and our children. Father’s don’t always get the credit that they deserve, they shape our childhood and are often the backbone of the family.
Father’s Day is a great time to say, what often goes unsaid. A thank you can go a long way, let the father figure in your life or your child’s life know they are appreciated. Gifts always go down well, but there is nothing better than time reaching out, spending time together, a phone call to show you care can make their day.
As many of these special days, it can bring up a mixture of emotions. Those who have lost dads, miss their dad, wish to be a dad, or dads that are unable to spend the day with their children. It can be a difficult time for many. Reach out to others if you know they will be having a difficult day, take time to remember your father figure and help others to do the same.
As many of you, the thought of a special day can leave you with a heavy heart. As much as you’d love to go for a family walk, or out for a meal we know that an outing with a special needs family NEVER goes to plan; by the end of the day, no one is talking to each other, everyone has been crying, it rained, the food was crap and everyone is straight to bed.
Just remember, no pressure. A carpet picnic in your PJs, movie at home, walk with the dog or a warm drink while the kids run wild or even just make favourite tea ( that everyone except dad will moan about, but we can’t win at everything)
Take care, from our spicy family to yours x
